Exciting Cookout Careers 2026

Cookout hires for three kinds of work: restaurant crew, restaurant management and maintenance. Every open job is listed on the Employment page of cookout.com, where you can search by city and distance or view all jobs at once. The chart below shows where the openings were in October 2026.

North Carolina, Cook Out’s home state, had the most openings by far. New restaurants also hire before they open. In October 2026 the job board listed “Coming Soon” stores in places such as Tallahassee, FL, Fort Payne, AL, Hermitage, TN and Yorktown, VA.

These are the seven job titles on Cook Out’s own job board. We counted the open listings for each one in October 2026.

You may see other titles on job sites, such as “QSR Manager” or “Engineering Program Manager”. Those are category labels used by job sites. They are not job titles that Cook Out advertises.

Does Cookout Pay Weekly?

On Indeed, current and former employees report a weekly paycheck, and several name Monday as payday. Some also report that managers are paid every two weeks, and that some stores still hand out paper checks. Ask the manager at your store how and when you will be paid.

Cook Out Job Application Process

1. Cookout Online Job Application

Cook Out now takes applications on its own website. This replaced the old “Apply For A Job” button, which sent applicants to Indeed until early 2026.

2. Apply in Person at a Cookout Restaurant

Cook Out’s crew member ads say: “Apply in person at the Cook Out location nearest you.” The General Manager of each restaurant hires, trains and manages its own team, so the store is the best place to ask about open jobs.

3. Cookout Jobs on Indeed

Cookout jobs also appear on Cook Out’s Indeed page, along with employee reviews and pay reports. The official employment page now uses its own form, so apply on Cook Out’s site or in person to be sure your application reaches the store.

What Happened to the Printable Cookout Application Form?

For years Cook Out’s employment page offered two printable application forms, one for Maryland and one for all other states. It asked applicants to drop the form off at a restaurant between 2 PM and 5 PM. Cook Out removed those download buttons in spring 2026, when it added the online job search.

We no longer offer the forms on this page, because Cook Out no longer points applicants to them. If you prefer a paper application, ask the manager at your store.

Cookout Hiring Process

Cook Out does not publish a step-by-step hiring process. The steps below are based on Cook Out’s job ads and on what employees report on Indeed, so your store may differ.

1. Submit your applicationApply online or in person. Check that your name, phone number and email address are correct.
2. Wait for the manager to callApplicants on Indeed say they heard back in about a week. If you hear nothing, visit the store and ask for the manager.
3. Go to the interviewEmployees on Indeed describe a simple process: they applied, went to an interview at the store, and had a decision within about a week.
4. ChecksCook Out’s paper application says any job offer depends on a criminal record check, and that employees agree to random drug screens when required. Its maintenance technician ads require a drug screen and a background check before you start.
5. Job offer and paperworkThe manager makes the offer. Bring your ID. Cook Out’s application form says you will complete an I-9 form to confirm that you are allowed to work in the US.
6. TrainingEmployees say training is paid and lasts about a week, one station at a time. The reported uniform is a black shirt, jeans or black pants, an apron, a hat and non-slip shoes.

Cookout Interview Questions and Tips

The General Manager of each restaurant does the hiring, so expect to talk with a store manager. Glassdoor rates the Cook Out interview as easy and mostly positive, based on 169 interview reports. Cook Out’s crew member ad lists four things it looks for. Prepare one short example for each, and you will have an answer ready for most interview questions.

Expect a question about late nights, because most stores close at 3:00 AM or 4:00 AM. Check Cookout hours for your store first. Arrive ten minutes early, dress neatly and bring your ID.

Cookout Dress Code and Uniform

Employees report a uniform of a black shirt, jeans or black pants, an apron, a hat and non-slip shoes. They say Cook Out gives you the hat, and that tattoos are allowed.

Cookout Career Path and Promotions

Cook Out calls itself a performance-based company. This is the path from a first job to running a restaurant, with the pay we found for each step.

Cook Out’s job ads say it promotes from within. Employee answers on Indeed are mixed. Some describe room to grow into higher positions, and others say manager jobs at their store were filled from outside. Employees also report a raise of about 25 cents an hour for each new station you learn.

How Old Do You Have to Be to Work at Cookout?

Cook Out’s printed application form says applicants must be at least 16. It also says a 16 or 17 year old student who will work past 11:00 PM needs permission from a parent or the school. Employees report that management jobs need you to be 18.
